With corporate headquarters in Taiwan, China Airlines is Taiwan's national airline. Mandarin Airlines and Tigerair Taiwan are some of the Group's subsidiaries. The Group was founded in December 1959. From its hub at Taoyuan International Airport, the three airlines collectively run a wide range of full-service and affordable international and regional routes.

The Group's main office is located at CAL Park, close to Taoyuan International Airport, and China Aviation Development Foundation is its largest stakeholder.

Destinations

As of right now, China Airlines offers more than 1,400 flights each week, including only cargo flights to 118 airports in 115 cities across four continents excluding codeshare; brackets indicate future destinations. The carrier's most significant market is Japan, with about 180 flights each week from various locations in Taiwan to 14 cities in Japan.

Cabin Classes Offered by China Airlines

Economy Class: Except for Boeing 737 aircraft, all aircraft's economy class has a pitch of 31–32 inches (79–81 cm) with IFE screens with sizes ranging from 6.5–11.1 inches.

Prior to now, China Airlines offered the Family Couch service on lengthy flights carried out by Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A350-900XWB. It was a group of three Economy class seats that were located in the first 10 rows on the right of the Economy Class cabin on the 777 and the first 6 rows on both the right and left of the Economy Class cabin on the A350.

On long-distance flights, travelers could lie flat on their backs by reserving three adjacent Family Couch seats. Unfortunately, China Airlines has ceased products due to its low popularity. Seats capable of becoming Family Couch seats will now have leg-rests locked.

Premium Economy Class: Premium economy class is available onboard the Airbus A350-900XWB and Boeing 777-300ER. The class includes fixed-back seats, tables with movable tablet holders, footrests, leg rests, 12.1-inch multiple-touch screens, USB ports, and universal power outlets. Amenity kits, slippers, and inflatable neck rests are provided free of charge to passengers flying in premium economy class. Around 39 inches is the seat pitch (99 cm).

Business Class: Both the Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 777-300ER offer premium business class. Every passenger has direct aisle access thanks to the 1-2-1 configuration of the seats. When fully flat, the seat measures 78 inches (200 cm) long. Each seat has an 18-inch multi-touch screen with touchscreen control, a natural woodgrain table, adjustable reading lamps, several storage bins, AC and USB outlets, and multiple storage bins. The cabin staff provides turndown service upon request, while the Sky Lounge, a self-service galley bar, provides passengers with snacks, instant noodles, drinks, and literature while they are in flight.

First Class: Since July 1st, 2015, China Airlines has discontinued its First Class offerings. On the Boeing 747, the products are still available, and the seats are marketed as being in Business Class. Each of the three-class Boeing 747's nose sections contain 12 flat-bed First Class seats. A 15.1-inch personal screen with AVOD, a USB port, a universal power outlet, and noise-canceling headphones is provided in each seat. The cabin staff provides turndown service upon request.

China Airlines in-flight services

In-flight entertainment: China Airlines' Fantasy Sky in-flight entertainment system is accessible on all types of aircraft, with the exception of the Boeing 737-800. English, Japanese, and Traditional Chinese make up the system's three available languages. In addition to television episodes, songs, and video games, there are over 100 movies available.

Additional features include views from the exterior cameras, business information, and connecting flight information (available prior to landing). Moreover, Fantasy Sky on the Boeing 777-300ER offers Duty-Free catalogues, eBooks, surveys, and chat rooms.

Meal services: China Pacific Catering Services (CPCS) facilities provide the food and beverages offered on planes departing from Taiwan. Depending on the seat class, the destination, and the length of the flight, China Airlines offers a choice of meals on transcontinental flights.

Usually, both Western and Eastern cuisine options are available, as well as seasonal menu options that vary by location. Each class has the option to choose a special lunch during registration, including vegetarian, children's, or other meals. Most often served to First and Business Class passengers, these meals come from renowned Taiwanese restaurants or hotels.

On all of their international flights, China Airlines also provides refreshments, sometimes known as light meals or snack boxes. Customers of all classes are given mixed nuts prior to takeoff, however only First and Business Class passengers are given pre-flight beverages.

Wi-Fi: In-flight Wi-Fi, utilizing the Panasonic Avionics eXConnect Ku band systems and Deutsche Telekom portals, is available on the Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A350-900 once the plane reaches cruising altitude. Passengers can enjoy internet connection by paying through the system. There are also free services such as news articles and weather information. Phone calls and video chat are not permitted on the system.

China Airlines check-in

The online check-in process for China Airlines flights starts 48 hours before departure and lasts until two hours before takeoff. Infants, unaccompanied minors, and travelers in wheelchairs are not permitted to use this facility. Also, international travelers are also not eligible for the service.
