Seattle, Washington

How many cities can match Seattle’s lushness, modernity, trendiness, and epic mountain views? This city simply has so much happening and it’s not even done growing yet!

The city's centre overlooks the beautiful waters of Puget Sound, and the mountains of Olympic National Park. With one of the regular ferries that run from downtown Seattle, you can easily visit islands, rain forests, or wild beaches.

Smith Tower offers a 360-degree view of Seattle and beyond, so if you don't have the time, it's worth the climb. You can also see Mt Rainier, another Seattle landmark. Even better, you can enjoy a cocktail while you inhale it all.

Within an hour or so of Seattle, there are a variety of hiking trails. One of these is Mt Rainier National Park. The stunning Snoqualmie Falls is a short, easy hike that takes only 30 minutes from Seattle.

Pike Place Market is a great place to experience the city. It was established in 1907, and is the oldest continually operated public Farmer's Market. There are fresh fruits, vegetables, seafood, and other fresh ingredients. You also have the opportunity to find artisan crafts and great restaurants.

The interactive Museum of Pop Culture offers something completely new, wild and fun.

Best Time to Visit

Summer is the best season to visit Seattle. It is dry between mid-June and mid-October. The city exudes sunny skies with several outdoor festivals, booming surroundings and clear mountain scapes. Winter is often damp and gloomy, with lots of rain. The city closes when it snows, but it rarely snows.

Pro Tip

A Floatplane Tour of the City (from Lake Union) is a great option if you have limited time. This is the best way for you to see everything.

Airport

Only 20 minutes drive from downtown Seattle is Seatac-Tacoma International Airport. Other major airports are Seattle Boeing Field (5.5 miles / 8.8 kilometers), Paine Field (20.9 miles / 33.6 kilometers) and William R. Fairchild International Airport (64.8 miles / 104.3 kilometers)

Best Things to Do

Discover Discovery Park
Discovery Park is a 534 acre natural area park operated by the Seattle Parks and Recreation. It is the largest city park in Seattle, and occupies most of the former Fort Lawton site. The site is one of breathtaking majesty. Situated on Magnolia Bluff overlooking Puget Sound, Discovery Park offers spectacular view of both the Cascade and the Olympic Mountain ranges. The secluded site includes two miles of protected tidal beaches as well as open meadow lands, dramatic sea cliffs, forest groves, active sand dunes, thickets and streams.

Visit the Chihuly Garden & Glass
Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum has the most gorgeous and memorizing glass artworks with different exhibits and each exhibit has its own theme and style to broadcast their own colorful glass creations. Located at the base of the Space Needle in downtown Seattle, The museum has a great view of the Space Needle from the Glasshouse. It is beautiful to visit both during the day and night, giving it two different but phenomenal perspectives in the garden. During the day the garden shows off the glasswork details while at night the glasswork illuminates the garden!

Visit Pike Place Market
Overlooking Elliot Bay on Puget Sound, the Pike Place Market takes a top spot on the list of Seattle attractions. It is one of the country’s largest and oldest farmers’ markets, dating back to 1907. A hub for small businesses, the public market is home to over 200 independently-owned restaurants and shops. You’ll also find artists, craftspeople, and buskers in the winding alleys. Seattle residents and tourists have many reasons to spend hours in this historic district. But if it’s your first visit, you’ll need answers to these questions:

Enjoy Hot Tub Boats
What’s better than a scenic ride on a boat? A scenic ride on a boat with a hot tub. Finding the right, socially distanced pastime for the summer can be difficult — unless you’re in the Seattle area, that is. A company that makes boats equipped with hot tubs that people can drive around Lake Union in Seattle, Washington is quite possibly the best way to enjoy the day with your friends or family.

Discover Seattle Art Museum
At the Seattle Art Museum, one block from Pike Place Market, light-filled galleries invite you to wander through global art collections, temporary installations, and special exhibitions from around the world. Collections include modern and contemporary, African, Meso-American, Ancient Mediterranean, Islamic, European, Oceanic and Australian Aboriginal, Asian, American, and decorative arts. Visitors from out of town especially enjoy the remarkable Native American galleries featuring Northwest Coast art.
